If you want to know whether one person can impact an organization, consider this. Do you have someone in your organization that is crabby about everything? You know the old expression: “He (or she) would complain if he (or she) was hung with a new rope.” How does this person impact the attitude of others around them, or better yet, how do they impact your training? When they are around, are they constantly running down everyone and everything around them? Anyone who has worked with such an individual knows the type of negative impact they can have on an organization. Here is the little known secret; people with a positive attitude can have just as significant of an impact, maybe more. I agree with Brian – officers are not “just” anything. They are integral components of a very important system, and their actions, your actions, can impact the organization in a very positive way, including establishing policy, and training components.
